Clarisse Loughrey Independent (UK) [Dolly] Wells's strength is in her characters. Rated: 3/5 Oct 10, 2019 Full Review Wendy Ide Observer (UK) Wells's bracingly spiky writing vividly draws both the characters and the connections between them. Rated: 4/5 Oct 6, 2019 Full Review Charlotte O'Sullivan London Evening Standard As it happens, nothing much happens. Wells's film, basically, is missing a middle act. Still, if you're willing to overlook that teeny-tiny flaw, you'll emerge feeling stoked. Rated: 3/5 Oct 4, 2019 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Good Posture doesn't break any new ground, but the performances in the movie are so watchable, that it's an entertaining ride from beginning to end. Jul 11, 2020 Full Review Karen Krizanovich Radio Times It's a crafty comedy, this: a remarkable debut. Rated: 4/5 Oct 7, 2019 Full Review Nick Hasted The Arts Desk It's affectionately told from inside its particular world, admitting absurdities but essentially forgiving. Rated: 3/5 Oct 6, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Upasana R Studying an unlikely bond. Youth, comes with angst, unwillingness, irresponsibility. And here is a woman, explicitly reclusive and working each word in some tension, each perfectly intended - and they bond through the only vessel of venting they can bare - words, inane notes. The contrast of a red marker and the ballpoint pen interconnecting. When potential becomes merely a possibility, and you need fire billowing from the right leak rather than the exits you're too comfortable denying. + Zadie Smith talks like music. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/05/25 Full Review Michelle G I really love Emily Mortimer's work, so I really wanted to like this film, but, I have trouble when the main character, in this case, Lillian, isn't at all likeable. Add that there was only 10 minutes left and still no redemption had occurred, which meant that what did take place at the end made little sense and didn't gel with all that had gone before it. I was left feeling a little empty, not certain of the point of the film, and wondering if I'd missed something. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/25/24 Full Review Jim A Couldn’t really stick with it. The protagonist just to unappealing. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Sal D Well enough executed story of the awakening of a "lazy oaf." The contrast and interaction between the Lillian and Julia characters, in my mind, needed a little more emphasis to make this film shine more as "Julia" carries the gravitas that would have bumped this up to a 3.5 or 4 star. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/27/24 Full Review Audience Member Frustrated B, C, D and E plots give birth to a beautifully rounded A plot which reconciles multiple character arcs and then moves on - kinda what would happen if a writer locked themselves away and that chrysalis... oh, right I get it... Dolly Wells' previous work is some sort of pointer to this: she's great and it's great. Yes, they're the indulged meeja creative types in Brooklyn making art about themselves but they don't pretend they aren't, so you can't really throw things at the screen, the privileged oafs. Wonderful soundtrack too, as you'd expect from Wells and Emily Mortimer, which you'd also expect. Zadie Smith's in it and offers the chrysalis metaphor, which is nice. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review nefasto r Cute, but not particularly bold, this simple movie might vary its charm from viewer to viewer, but sure not its "unremarkability".
