      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

It's far from the most toothless shark thriller, but Great White lacks the killer storytelling instinct necessary to stay afloat.

Andy P Awful movie in every way. Just not realistic. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Tom C Very weak script and dito performance of actors Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Carlos I A terribly average little nature attacks movie. It passes the time if you're hungry for one of these kinds of movies, but it doesn't really feature anything noteworthy. I might criticize or praise it a little more, but I don't really remember it already... Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/11/22 Full Review latu l so dramatic and bad acting in one film. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/19/22 Full Review Audience Member More fake than jaws and absolute bad acting. The saving grace was the blonde was hot. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Ian R The film appears to have been shot off the North West coast of Western Australia. Somewhere near Broome (?). This is also, for me, the disappointing thing about the film. There just aren't any Great Whites that far North. Annoys me as the area is home to some very large Tiger sharks. Don't know why the producers insist on wrong species. Especially as Tiger sharks are well known to attack humans and small boats. Otherwise, a passable creature feature. Tomris Laffly RogerEbert.com A limp survival flick that drags considerably more than it scares. Rated: 1.5/4 Jul 16, 2021 Full Review Andrew Barker Variety The film's human characters make for drab company, leaving one with little to do but admire the scenery, waiting for dinnertime. Jul 16, 2021 Full Review Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News What distinguishes "Great White" from numerous "Jaws" wannabes is that we do feel an emotional investment about who lives and who becomes chum. It's a promising debut from Wilson. Rated: 2.5/4 Jul 15, 2021 Full Review Bill Bria Vague Visages Great White may not be a groundbreaking or unique film, but it’s made with respect, and that deserves to be reciprocated. Jun 6, 2023 Full Review Cheryl Eddy io9.com With all the long stretches of just, like, floating around, you’d think Great White would take more time to flesh out its characters, but it doesn’t really... Sep 14, 2022 Full Review Jenn Adams Rue Morgue Magazine An over reliance on CGI effects and clunky attempts to imply a lurking threat fall flat, making it hard to ever really buy into the terror supposedly lurking beneath the waves.
