Critics Consensus

Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a doofus with entertaining savvy in Greedy People, a shaggy crime comedy that welcomes unflattering comparisons to better examples of the genre.

Peter Bradshaw Guardian It’s not a bad premise by any means, but a noir romp, however bizarre and farcical, surely has to take place in a recognisably real world where there are plausibly real constraints on people’s behaviour. Rated: 2/5 Sep 18, 2024 Full Review Tim Cogshell FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) Does it make any sense? No. But I was cracking up from scene to scene. Sep 16, 2024 Full Review Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News It doesn’t always work, but it more often than not hits its target, thanks to the performances and an unexpected ending. Rated: 2.5/4 Aug 28, 2024 Full Review Vinamra Mathur Firstpost For all those who are tiring of banal cash-grabbing vanity projects that only make noise at the ticket windows, this crime comedy comes as a breather despite some flaws in the story. Rated: 3/5 Nov 25, 2024 Full Review Tanzim Pardiwalla Filmfare Watch it if you want a reminder of just how good Joseph Gordon-Levitt is or to see how far one can take a crazy idea and run with it. Rated: 3/5 Nov 22, 2024 Full Review Saibal Chatterjee NDTV Greedy People, directed by Potsy Ponciroli from a screenplay by Nichael Vukadinovich, never stops trying to claw its way out of the morass but fails. Joseph A P I was surprised how dark this movie was, very cool twist Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/26/24 Full Review Audience Member The plot went off too abruptly killing too many people which seems somewhat illogical. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/08/24 Full Review Tyler G Too many plot twists for it's own good. JGL is good, but other than that, a thoroughly mediocre movie. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/03/24 Full Review Tyler G This was a ride of a film. I enjoyed it a lot and it reminded me of burn after reading. Everyone all over the place is a genre in and of itself. You get many surprises along the way here and won't be disappointed. I was quite pleasantly surprised after watching. Joseph gordon levitt is great and so were the rest of the cast. I am surprised this film wasn't bigger, but clearly wasn't advertised much compared to other big box films. There was something happy go lucky about the movie despite all the chaos throughout. I was happy about it and feel like there isn't much else to compare it to - quite a unique movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/26/24 Full Review Michael J Awful film. Ending is so rushed and ruins a mediocre middle. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/14/24 Full Review Audience Member The pregnant wife acting was so baddddddddd. The plot is kinda ok, but the directing is bad. The ending kinda ok. Overall not fun Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/05/24 Full Review Read all reviews
