Hoyt Hilsman Variety The emotional power of the issue of child neglect makes up for lackluster performances and predictable retelling of the story of Gregory K, based on the 12-year-old who sued to terminate his parents' rights so that he could be adopted by foster parents. Audience Member This is a really good film. It's based on a true story too. Gregory was the first child to ever divorce his parents, his father because he was abusive and his mother because she was an alcholic who cared more about drink than her sons. This film is really sad to watch but as soon as he meets the Wilson's who want to adopt him his life changes for the better. Joseph Gordon-Levitt does a star turn as young Gregory, who later becomes Sean. I love it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member A sweet made for TV movie, starring a young Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a kid who has had a difficult upbringing with parents who have struggled to care for him. He has been put in and out of care for years, when finally he meets a family who want to adopt him, but suddenly his parents want him back. Gregory (Gordon-Levitt) fights back, becoming the first child to go through the courts to divorce his parents, hoping to secure a happy future for himself. The film itself is no masterpiece, but Joseph Gordon-Levitt really stands out as a great actor, and it is worth watching for him alone. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Drama based on a true story of a young boy named Gregory, who legally divorced his parents. Very well done.
