      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

The role of probation officer Sean Porter fits Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson like a glove; however, the execution is so cliched, the youths' stories (based on real events), fail to inspire.

Jonathan L Dissagree with the critics entirely on this one. The events dipicted inspired the hell out of me, I felt Dwayne just did alright, (he could've shown more emotion), and I thought the movie was amazing. 85/100 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/09/23 Full Review Mikey F Absolute cheese, but good stringing cheese. Good to see the Rock playing an actually character. All been done before but a worthy effort. Worth a watch Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/30/23 Full Review Eva M I do not enjoy "the Rock",, lol 😂. Just realize part of his most recent rise in stardom is because of affiliations in the industry w much of the corruption going on in our nation. He will do and has done whatever it takes to gain success and money . He not a patriot and cares very little about the people of our nation. He is a terrible actor and has had his careee handed to him on a silver platter ,, just realize when you support this actor you are supporting the corruption thay is going to ultimately cost you ,, your freedom and the freedom of your children'/ and grand children. We all need to be more hyper vigilant of what's happening. It is as serious as anything you have ever been cognizant of in your life Stop supporting actors who are going along w this just to gain wealth and prosperity. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/07/23 Full Review Kristin M I love the movie! I was fully invested in the outcome of all the games, the progression of the characters and what would happen to them in the end. Based on a true story, makes it even better. We need more of this in our world today. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review avant s rewatched it after years; have to say this is one of the rock's best works. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Andre G Great movie. Love football movies. This one keeps you interested. Too bad they can't win it all though. Brian Tallerico UGO The surprisingly effective Gridiron Gang will find its way into that harshly defended emotional endzone, even if they might not necessarily admit it to their friends. Mar 24, 2007 Full Review Sam Toy Empire Magazine What begins as a series of pleasant revelations and a deft example of genre defiance is nearly crippled by cliche in its second half, but The Rock's surprising dramatic magnetism will hold you until the final whistle. Rated: 3/5 Jan 29, 2007 Full Review Marrit Ingman Austin Chronicle Mostly the movie barrels toward you, stiff-armed. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 23, 2006 Full Review Justin Brown Medium Popcorn It's a bit on the long end but nonetheless I enjoyed this. The young men who portrayed the players and "The Rock" all gave solid performances. Rated: 3/5 Feb 12, 2024 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com A typical, feel-good sports film with nearly every sports cliche' ever captured on film. Rated: 2.5/4.0 Sep 9, 2020 Full Review Micheal Compton Bowling Green Daily News Gridiron Gang probably isn't a film that will appeal to non-sports fans, but it's just good enough to give football fans something to do before the next kickoff.
