Griffin Nafly is the most ambitious playwright of his generation. He's also fourteen-years-old, still living with his exhausted mother in the bland suburb of Borwood and desperately attempting to self-produce his new divorce drama Regrets of Autumn starring his unenthusiastic friends. But when Griffin forms a surprise summer friendship with handsome twenty-five-year-old failed performance artist turned handyman Brad, his life (and play) will never be the same.

Lovia Gyarkye The Hollywood Reporter Blunck is an arresting presence. He balances Griffin's intensity and know-it-all attitude with unexpected moments of typical adolescent insecurity. Jun 10, 2024 Full Review Kate Erbland indieWire As a showcase for [Nicholas Colia's] stellar casting abilities and knack for heartwarming storytelling, Griffin in Summer is a very fine feature directorial debut. Rated: B Jun 7, 2024 Full Review Matthew St. Clair Cinematic Words of a Chaotic Gemini (Substack) Through slight humor and distress, Griffin in Summer effectively navigates painful truths about adolescence and is a promising feature directorial debut from writer/director Nicholas Colia. Rated: A Jul 7, 2024 Full Review Juan Carlos Ugarelli Cinencuentro The script successfully balances sarcastic comedy and drama as Griffin discovers new things about himself and ventures to dream of a promising future on Broadway and experience the illusion of first love. [Full review in Spanish] Jul 5, 2024 Full Review Connor Lightbody Movies We Texted About an unremarkable and awkward comedy that is tonally inverted on itself, with a lead character that is almost unbearable. For what charm the cast can muster, the character of Griffin is at war with the script as well as his impending puberty Rated: 2/5 Jul 4, 2024 Full Review Frank J. Avella Edge Media Network The scenes between Griffin and Brad are a treat. Brad is initially oblivious to the blazing torch Griffin is carrying for him. Teague nails the standoffish artist/rebel who is actually desperate for his work to be appreciated. Rated: A- Jun 27, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews
