Alissa Simon Variety Pic's main problem is that its human story lacks drama; Hachi's the central attraction. Apr 29, 2010 Full Review Robbie Collin News of the World This is the film equivalent of Nice biscuits, or snow globes, or N-Dubz. You're vaguely aware that they exist but you don't know anyone who actually likes them. Rated: 2/5 Mar 16, 2010 Full Review Derek Malcolm London Evening Standard It(TM)s an extraordinary and touching story but told with too beady an eye on the box-office for comfort - even if you(TM)re a doggy person. Rated: 2/5 Mar 16, 2010 Full Review Rachel Wagner Rachel's Reviews (YouTube) There's not a whole lot going on, it's pretty much just this relationship, between this dog and this man and it's really touching and and beautiful. Jul 2, 2019 Full Review Leigh Paatsch Herald Sun (Australia) We all know Marley & Me is the Citizen Kane of dog movies that can drain all tear ducts. However, this one (also based on a true story) runs an honest, heartbreaking second. Madeline W Sad but not in a good way. Just depressing. They didn’t build up the relationship of the human and dog to justify the dogs sacrifice to sit there everyday for 10 years. Family did not even try and help. Not a fan. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/13/25 Full Review Frans B Literally the saddest movie I've seen my whole life. It physically hurt me deep inside, like real soreness and pain in my body, although I do not consider myself very sensitive or emotional. Perhaps because of my love for animals and the ability to FEEL. I could never watch it again, and probably never will. The fact that it is true saddens me even more. Someone should have explained to him much sooner that his human will never return again. Brilliant movie, absolutely stunning on all levels Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/10/25 Full Review Zack D. This movie captures the true loyalty of our canine companions. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/05/25 Full Review James B. I wanted it to be so much better but it was still worth watching!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/23/25 Full Review Kayle G So I watched the film it was an amazing film. It was just so sad the beginning with the owner and dog was so adorable however when he died and hatchi kept waiting for him at the station brought me tears. As if the owner dying and him waiting wasn't upsetting enough the end scene will have crying like you have never cried before. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/15/25 Full Review Old G This is by far the saddest movie I have ever seen. I am not emotional normally, but this movie really affected me. I could never watch this movie again as it is so sad. I did cry and had dreams about the movie. I really don't even like thinking about it as it can become upsetting. I am a dog owner so I might appreciate the loyalty Hachi showed his owner more than people who do not have dogs. So if you if you want to see a really sad movie this is the one I suggest, otherwise I would not watch it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/29/25 Full Review Read all reviews
