Joe B Well written, comedians are actually funny as opposed to something like Marvelous Miss Maisel & the generational gap between the 2 leads is well handled and a great source of laughs and insight. One query, described as a mockumentary by Rotten Tomatoes, based on what? Seems like a straightforward comedy. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/17/24 Full Review Mark S I kept putting off seeing this. I saw a trailer that looked mildly amusing so I gave it a go. Debera Vance is a good character played by a good actor and I would have loved seeing more of her. It is Eva that sickens me. Who wants to watch a 25 year old spoiled child who doesn't know how to interact with people. They should have cast Brie Larson, she would have fit right in. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/30/21 Full Review Audience Member It took me a minute to figure out that they were not documenting but rather scripting the lives of Hacks. This means that the characters overact each of the various "hacky" comedic types. The thing that was missed here is that there are actual people out there who are this self absorbed and terrible at comedy. Jim Gaffigan was the only noteable celebrity to break out of this group of local comics. What this movie was essentially is the local comics of a certain city getting together to film a production. This results in half way decent writing and mostly bad acting. It was mildly entertaining but not the gem I was looking for. Next time someone should really follow around some hacks. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Okay, so it won the award for "Best Comedy" at the NY Film Fest. The movie still sucks. It is not funny. It is a staged documentary. Sophomoric moron comedians thinking they themselves are funny. A stupid, stupid flick. Don't waste your time. High marks for disturbing. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Piece of shit, but I loved it. Spoiler alert: no titties. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Refreshingly aggressive and offensive... to say 'it lacks a sense of political correctness' would be a massive understatement.
