While there’s definitely an anatomical study of heterosexual relationships here that sings with a modern resonance, the film’s coup de grâce frames art itself as an arcane source of mental wellbeing. Go to Full Review

Hamnet is a film about carrying love differently after loss: how it changes shape, how it finds new vessels, how it refuses to disappear. It doesn’t ask to be admired so much as felt. And once it settles inside you, it doesn’t leave. Go to Full Review

3h This movie is very exceptional and highly emotional for anyone who knows some Shakespeare, and Hamlet. The acting is superb, the direction is flawless, the sets are perfect: decor, buildings, furniture, clothing, everything thing in detail transports us to the 1580s, where the human condition is shown very truly, the love, abuse, diseases, pregnancies and births, the devastation of the plague, the theater setting. I think it is clear for many scenes that the director is a woman, Chloe Zhao. I am not sure there were many dry eyes in the theater. Poignant and beautiful.
