Cary Darling Houston Chronicle Visually, "Harbin" is often stunning. Woo Min-ho often is painterly in how he re-creates the early 20 century. Along with cinematographer Hong Kyung-pyo ("Parasite," "Snowpiercer"), he uses the screen as a canvas for some absolutely ravishing images. Rated: 4/5 Jan 5, 2025 Full Review Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com Unfortunately, it’s hard to get too excited when all that effort is wasted on stick-figure heroes who talk a lot about but mostly hint at the depth of their characters. Rated: 1/4 Jan 3, 2025 Full Review Siddhant Adlakha Variety A visually striking period drama... En route to [its] engaging climax, Woo also introduces a mystery element that keeps the wheels of the story turning, even when it may not have enough steam. Oct 2, 2024 Full Review Emma Vine Loud and Clear Reviews Harbin is an important watch that is very much worth the time investment. Rated: 4/5 Jan 16, 2025 Full Review Christopher Cross Asynchronous Media Harbin is just exciting enough to be engaging but rarely digs deep enough below the surface to feel like more than just an abbreviated recap of a moment in Korea’s past. Rated: 2.5/5 Jan 14, 2025 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Harbin gives a suspenseful depiction of the 1909 plot by Korean fighters to assassinate Japanese prime minister Itō Hirobumi during Japan’s takeover of Korea. The movie drags in the middle, but is overall a well-made historical drama. Jan 13, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Ben W This film was incredible! Gripping, emotional, and eye opening. I had no idea of this specific portion of the Korean/Japanese history. This was a truly informational as well as emotionally and mentally engaging. Definitely recommend. Very well executed and the character work here is great! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/25 Full Review Stephen S At the very end it says something along the lines of “in 1946 Korea resistance army kept fighting and they finally won independence” and the end roll credits. Maybe give a tiny nod to who actually won your independence? Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/25 Full Review Daniel It is a well made movie. Cinematography was very good as the story. Worth to watch it in the theater. Highly recommended. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/12/25 Full Review Tere O Visually striking and moody. Many arresting moments. Glad I watched it on the big screen. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/05/25 Full Review Christine Wow! Such a compelling narrative with strong performances and impressive cinematography! Highly recommend to watch it from a big screen!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/05/25 Full Review Richard B I think this is an important story for Korean history but as a movie it is full of stereotypes and sort of a cliche war movie .
