Salva certainly gets points for creative repurposing. Much of what transpires in "Dark House" has been seen before, just not all in the same movie.

Underpar as a teenage slasher as it attempts to create a higher meaning story through the main character and is very messy for it.

Has Rotten Tomato jumped the shark? Yes. There was a time that I actually respected the "expert" reviews. It seems that every movie I find interesting and creepy (I like horror) gets a low "expert" rating. Horror movies are NOT supposed to be Oscar worthy. Most horror movies are "you see one you've seen most of them", this one is not one of those. Why do I like it? I'm not trying to impress with my "expert knowledge".
