Andy B There are very few films where I want everyone to die. By that, I mean not just the characters, but the actors, the director and everyone associated with creating this dross. This is a truly terrible film. The basic plot is over-used - people find out that the Halloween experience they are going through is killing people. For a good version of this, check out Haunt or Hell House LLC both of which deal with this idea far better. The acting is annoying. There is some speculation that this is largely unscripted and the actors were creating their on lines. That might explain why all of them get fixated on repeating the same thing over and over - Zays repetitive complaint of this being "while man s**t" is a case in point. The plot twist comes as the writers (assuming anyone aspired to that lofty term) flailed about wildly as they realised they had no idea how to finish the film. That is probably why it is so absolutely ridiculous. This film could so easily have been turned into a viable comedy - the girl dying while looking for her earrings is a case in point. But instead, this film blunders from one scene to another and then unfortunately sets itself up for a sequel. Hey, if politicians manage it, this could too. The plot is nonsensical and the acting (if you can call it that) made me want to literally put a gun to my head and pull the trigger! From its paper-thin plot to its abysmal execution, this movie is a masterclass in how not to make a slasher film. The film opens with a group of clichéd, one-dimensional college friends heading to a haunted trail. There's no character development, and the audience knows nothing about them, making it impossible to root for anyone. The story lacks any originality, and it's clear that the writers didn't even attempt to inject fresh ideas into the slasher genre. Acting: The performances are so cringe-worthy that it's genuinely painful to watch. At least one character is a reincarnation of Stepin Fetchit. The dialogue, or constant yelling is bad, filled with nonsensical conversations. Haunted Trail is a complete and utter disaster of a slasher film. It fails to deliver on any level, from storytelling to acting to technical execution. Even die-hard fans of the genre will find little to enjoy here.
