Two young sisters, Hayflower (Katriina Tavi) and Quiltshoe (Tilda Kiianlehto), find themselves increasingly frustrated with a lack of attention from their preoccupied scientist father, Halise (Päivi Akonpelto), and their overburdened mother, Helga (Merja Larivaara). Hayflower, the older girl, is about to begin her first year of school, but as Quiltshoe realizes that she will be losing her one companion, she breaks into a ceaseless tantrum, forcing her imaginative sister to try to keep the peace.
