Anton Bitel Little White Lies Hell Night reconfigures the slasher as social struggle, with Marti not just its final girl, but also its working-class heroine. And while she may continue to embrace liberty and equality, Marti learns to turn her back on fraternity. Jul 26, 2021 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times You know a movie is in trouble when what is happening on the screen inspires daydreams. I had lasted through the first reel, and nothing had happened. Now I was somewhere in the middle of the third reel, and still nothing had happened. Rated: 1/4 Oct 23, 2004 Full Review Alan Jones Starburst Hell Night is sheer hell to sit through. Jul 28, 2022 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy While slasher-flick aficionados prefer their pictures with generous servings of both gore and T&A, Hell Night is relatively restrained on both fronts, making it a good bet for family viewing around Christmastime. (OK, that might be a slight exaggeration.) Rated: 2/4 Sep 18, 2021 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com ...despite no sequels, reboots or remakes, this semi-original shocker shouldn't be forgotten... Rated: 3/5 Jul 28, 2021 Full Review Eve Tushnet Patheos It has really nothing to say, and I found that I couldn't quite love it, but it's much better-crafted than it needed to be. The music is striking... Jan 23, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Ricky R Would actually be a cool little slasher if not for the painfully slow pace. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/03/24 Full Review Steve D There are no surprises here but it is effective. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/10/23 Full Review Audience Member A truly underrated and underappreciated horror slasher film. Hell Night is the story of four college pledges who have to stay a night at a infamous mansion where things get spooky for them on Halloween night. Is it a prank from their fraternity or something beyond? Now I can see why people would not like it because of the writing but the film still has so much good qualities. The costume designs were pretty impressive. Linda Blair gives her best performance since doing The Exorcist. The musical score composed by Dan Wyman is pretty well made. But most importantly, Hell Night is a creepy and scary film. Hell Night is a satisfying film in the horror slasher genre. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Linda Blair is always sexy. Otherwise, lots of killings at the hands of...somebody...we never know who. Standard "teens" near their thirtieth birthdays getting killed off. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Hell night is one of the more polished and entertaining teen slashers to come out of the early eighties. Four college kids (including a blonde surfer dude, an English chick with a penchant for running around in her underwear, a Jared Leto lookalike and of course Linda Blair) are locked within the grounds of a reportedly haunted mansion as part of a fraternity initiation and are picked off one-by-one by the deformed family members who still inhabit the place. It's far from original, but let's face it you go in knowing what you're going to get and this film does what it does very well. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews
