Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald It’s all too much. The horrors are piled on in such quantities that any possibility of being scared or even slightly repulsed soon evaporates. Rated: 2/5 Oct 11, 2024 Full Review William Bibbiani TheWrap Taylor envisions a Hellboy where the horror matters more than the humor or poetry or romance or even the good vibes, and he’s made a film that proves his take is valid. Oct 10, 2024 Full Review Siddhant Adlakha Variety It has the look of YouTube fan film — not to mention the excess fidelity. Oct 9, 2024 Full Review John Serba Decider Nothing in The Crooked Man compels us to feel invested in this story, which lacks suspense, dramatic momentum and a sense of pacing. May 8, 2025 Full Review Grant Hermanns Screen Rant Brian Taylor's Hellboy: The Crooked Man certainly strives to feel different from the previous movies, but comes with the cost of also feeling dry. Rated: 4/10 Mar 20, 2025 Full Review Adrian Ruiz But Why Tho? A Geek Community Hellboy: The Crooked Man makes a valiant effort to adapt Mike Mignola’s 2008 comic, but ultimately, it falters under the weight of its changes. Donn B I grew up with tales from the crypt and tales from the darkside, I even remember kolcheck the nightstalker and the night gallery. If you are a downer on this you are missing some good storytelling and you need to lighten up and enjoy the ride. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/14/25 Full Review Audience Member What in the fing God’s name is this? I literally held off on watching because of all the bad reviews, and now 12–13 minutes in I already regret it. The acting isn’t just bad, it’s god-awful. The cinematography is trash, the shots look like s, the pacing is a mess. This thing is a straight-up pauper of a movie. What the actual f*** is this, and why is it so damn bad? What the actual f? I cannot believe the disappointment... What the... Like seriously... People... What the... Literally Bollywood movies have better actors than this piece of s... SERIOSULY! THE ROOM IS A MASTERPIECE COMPARED TO THIS. WHAT IS THIS???? WHAT WERE YOU THINKING DIRECTORS??? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/13/25 Full Review Akbal R It was obviously not the high budget del Toro or whatever the last big movie was. I was fun and to be honest I kinda thought of this as a pilot for a TV series and I think it would be a great show if I wanted to see more. It was quite faithful to the comic books and I had a nice time watching it, reminded me of early X files too. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/10/25 Full Review matthias s Just finished *Hellboy: The Crooked Man* and wow… this was rough. I went in with rock-bottom expectations (no del Toro, no Ron Perlman, already a bad sign) and somehow it still managed to disappoint. With a \$20 million budget, it shockingly looks like an expensive fan film—bad directing, awkward acting, and a Hellboy who spends the entire runtime spitting out “cool” one-liners instead of actual dialogue. Every time he opened his mouth I cringed harder than the CGI trying to pass as atmosphere. The film is boring, soulless, and feels like a total disgrace to its source material. The only star it gets is because it has the Hellboy name slapped on it. Del Toro and Perlman—please save us with part 3. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/05/25 Full Review Terriana S There is way too much CGI and it’s not even that good, the creepy music plays on for way too long even if there’s nothing scary happening. No wonder they don’t even tell anyone about the movie even existing it’s so bad. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/03/25 Full Review Pinoy Short R Sayang oras. Ok un idea na dark, horror na Hellboy pero very evident un pagka low budget nya. Oks din un acting pero kinulang sa story ideas Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/30/25 Full Review Read all reviews
