Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald It’s all too much. The horrors are piled on in such quantities that any possibility of being scared or even slightly repulsed soon evaporates. Rated: 2/5 Oct 11, 2024 Full Review William Bibbiani TheWrap Taylor envisions a Hellboy where the horror matters more than the humor or poetry or romance or even the good vibes, and he’s made a film that proves his take is valid. Oct 10, 2024 Full Review Siddhant Adlakha Variety It has the look of YouTube fan film — not to mention the excess fidelity. Oct 9, 2024 Full Review Grant Hermanns Screen Rant Brian Taylor's Hellboy: The Crooked Man certainly strives to feel different from the previous movies, but comes with the cost of also feeling dry. Rated: 4/10 Mar 20, 2025 Full Review Adrian Ruiz But Why Tho? A Geek Community Hellboy: The Crooked Man makes a valiant effort to adapt Mike Mignola’s 2008 comic, but ultimately, it falters under the weight of its changes. Rated: 5/10 Mar 8, 2025 Full Review Whang Yee Ling The Straits Times (Singapore) Not every superhero adventure has to be a mega-dollar bloat. Mike K At some point during the filming a producer should have shut this movie down and taken the loss. No belief in the "new" much smaller and ineffectual Hellboy, and the rest is an awful drive in movie horror show no one wants to watch. Big fan of Big Red, but not this one. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/19/25 Full Review Brett M I am a fan of Hellboy. I have read some of the comics and seen all the movies. I would rate this right in the middle as far as the movies were concerned. It was not as good as the Ron Perlman Hellboy movies, but it was better than the 2019 David Harbour movie. It starts off a bit slow, but it starts to pick up speed about halfway through the movie. It is really creepy and a bit strange. It is not like typical Hellboy movies. It was pretty dark, but it was a story about witches. I would not recommend it for children. I liked Jack Kesy's portray of Hellboy and thought Jefferson White, Adeline Rudolph, and Joseph Marcell were great supporting characters. The acting overall was above average. The CGI was hit or miss. Some were obscenely awful, and some were good. There was decent action. I would have liked to see Hellboy unleashed. There was one cool scene in the church with zombies. Overall, the film is entertaining and interesting and I enjoyed the story, but it was not a fantastic film. It wasn't terrible either. It was right in the middle. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/15/25 Full Review Brian J I liked the look of the film, the darkness helped with mood. The file seems to have been shot in chunks with no real cohesiveness. We're on the train, now in the woods, we meet a family, we go to the house, then the church. Overall I enjoyed it, but it made me miss the Ron Perlman version of the hero. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/15/25 Full Review Alex B Flawed, sure. It has decent CGI and a disjointed plot. But it's a good horror movie that is a very faithful adaptation of the original short story and a much needed creative improvement from the last Hellboy movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/13/25 Full Review Audience Member This movie was way better than expected. Just because the graphics were low budget, doesn’t mean the movie stinks. Loved the raw nature of it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/13/25 Full Review Benjamin C Starts off good for first 10 mins but then is a weird horror filmed in a odd format. Got bored half way through and ended the film. At no point was it interesting or have me on edge my seat. This is bargain basement material Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/12/25 Full Review Read all reviews
