It never repeats the tension of its opening sequence. But by this point we're sufficiently invested in Lena that we want to know how it turns out -- which is basically the point.

Hellcat alternates between grounded thriller and Lynchian fever dream, making the most of its single location with some creative uses of the trailer’s geography. As summer comes to an end, its warm, atmospheric set design will make for ideal fall viewing.

The main actress carries the entire movie which is why I give it one star, I genuinely thought she was great. The mystery of her infection and her abductor was ok but there’s no real progression and feels entirely drawn out. Once we finally get to the climax of the movie which is just the ending, it is absolute dog water. It’s so unfortunate bc the trailer looked decent. This had so much potential to be great just fell flat for me.

Hellcat keeps the viewer guessing on which direction the film will go in an age of predictability. Solid acting, directing and script. You can tell that film was able to save on the budget by doing less with more. I am interested to see what this team does in the future.
