Recently widowed and needing a change of pace, Jan Stewart (Greer Garson) takes a job as a schoolteacher at the Oaks, an elite boys' prep school. She is given charge of 12 rowdy students, including a sullen boy (Tim Considine) whose father (Barry Sullivan) is a vocal critic of Jan's teaching capabilities. Jan must prove to the skeptical headmaster (Robert Ryan) and everyone else that she's up to the task by winning over her students and becoming more than just a teacher to them.

Steve D Cute but quite predictable. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/07/24 Full Review Audience Member A lesser known, to be truthful lesser impressive film from Superstar Greer Garson (who played the infamous Mrs. Miniver) . The story is a simple Greer is first time female teacher in a works full of boys, and in many ways the standout performances are by the children. This film is a tad flat & no strikingly memorable, it's has cute moments but the film is overall rather flat. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member One of Greer's last theatrical films may not be a classic but well made with Greer her usual pillar of strength. She and Robert Ryan make an odd match but have a decent oil and vinegar chemistry. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review ashley h Her Twelve Men is a cute film. It is about a a new teacher at The Oaks, a boys' boarding school, who becomes instructor and mother-figure to a class of twelve. Greer Garson and Robert Ryan give incredible performances. The screenplay is well written. Robert Z. Leonard did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the drama and humor. Her Twelve Men is a must see. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member look 4 james arness in a bit part Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I Love Greer Garson's Velvet Voice, so Proper, yet comforting. No one had a voice like Greer. In this Film see is a recent Widow who decides to become the only female school teacher at a Prestigious Boarding School for Boys. The Feminine Touch is just what these Boys & this School needed, as mostly these boys are an inconvenience to their wealthy parents, who just ship them away to be looked after by others under the guise of higher learning.Even the difficult ones, need to be Mothered a little. She bonds with a Male Teacher (Robert Ryan)who she once resented. A Very Lovely Story. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
