Satyavati D A beautiful, ethereal film. More than a documentary, more than a dramatization of the discovery of the location of the first contact between Jacques Cartier and the ancient Mohawk culture. Absolutely recommend this magical recounting. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/18/23 Full Review Serge L The message is old but it is implacable, the human race is separating, rejoining over eons and the genes are spreading all over. The anchor linking all is an archeological serendipitous dig in a stadium in Montréal. Great, realistic, ironic. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/09/18 Full Review Audience Member DISPOSANT DE QUELQUES SÉQUENCES "HISTORIQUES" INTÉRESSANTES, HOCHELAGA EST MALHEUREUSEMENT TROP PRÉTENTIEUX POUR LE MESSAGE QU'IL SOUHAITE APPORTER, L'IMPORTANCE DES PREMIÈRES NATIONS. UNE BONNE IDÉE MAIS TRÈS MAL EXÉCUTÉE. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Very well filmed and historically interesting as it covers completely different periods of Montreal history Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/24/18 Full Review Audience Member Really good for a quebecois movie Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Dennis Harvey Variety "Hochelaga" is trickily structured and flamboyantly staged almost to a self-conscious fault, but nonetheless likewise rewards with a rich cinematic banquet. Sep 12, 2017 Full Review Chelsea Phillips-Carr Scene Creek There is a lot to admire in Hochelaga: wonderful performances, polished beauty, and historical intrigue make the film engaging. Rated: 2/5 Jul 19, 2018 Full Review Amber Wilkinson Eye for Film Although it is technically beautifully realised and features an impressively varied and supportive score from Terry and Gyan Riley, not all of Girard's connections fully work.
