Stands out as one of Wayne's best-remembered features, a smooth Western co-produced by Wayne and shot at the tail end of the '50s 3-D craze. [Blu-ray] Go to Full Review

Directed by John Farrow in 3-D, this Western resembles George Stevens' Shane (released few months earlier), based on the premise that to become a real man every boy needs a father (biological or surrogate); the film marks Geraldine Page's screen debut Go to Full Review

Stephen C @bob25009 Jul 20 Success in 1 hour and 24 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated PG for Western Violence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See more Michael L Jun 9 Wayne at his best. Tight well written. See more Angelo C 11/07/2024 Great movie…it’s believable and it shows how tough the days of cowboys and Indians were. There was respect but brutality when warranted. Page was beautiful but not too beautiful, believable and so well acted….especially by the apaches and especially their leader. See more Scott W 08/17/2023 Much better than The Son of Katie Elder. Not as good as Eldorado. Not even close to Wayne's best. James Arness has a confusing bit part. See more Kevin B 02/02/2023 One of my favorites really enjoy this movie See more Christopher B 08/22/2022 Hondo was directed by John Farrow but certainly reminds one of John Ford's films and stars his usual A-list actor John Wayne in a Western film, albeit a little offbeat one. The tone is unique and one that differs and the story is unique and has a lot going for it however. John Wayne gives another solid performance and the film is brisk, running under an hour and a half and is well-paced and has enough action in the latter part of the film to make it entertaining enough. Not the best of Westerns, but one that is unique and solid overall. See more Read all reviews
