      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Atmospheric horror built on layers of creeping dread, Honeydew finds fresh frights in its familiar setup -- and portends great things for writer-director Devereux Milburn.

Nick Schager The Daily Beast Has an appetite for the grisly, not to mention a thing or two to say about venturing into the middle of nowhere-and taking a bite out of morsels that come from unknown origins. Apr 13, 2021 Full Review Tomris Laffly RogerEbert.com This listless genre exercise mostly plays like a film-school-spun tribute to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre with some Hansel and Gretel clumsily mixed in, but without a political or philosophical foundation to stand on. Rated: 1/4 Apr 13, 2021 Full Review Christy Lemire FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) There is such specific, strange, and disturbing imagery here. It is so haunting. You will laugh just to relieve the tension. Apr 13, 2021 Full Review Cody Dericks Next Best Picture "Honeydew" is a nasty little movie that starts as an unnerving throwback to foundational horror filmmaking but ends up devolving into a bleak pile of nothing. Rated: 5/10 Jul 11, 2022 Full Review David Gonzalez The Cinematic Reel Though the film offers intriguing questions and a plot setup, it fails in its execution with a bloated runtime and disappointed vagueness that makes the film a mess. Rated: 2.5/4 Apr 22, 2022 Full Review Nicholas Yap In Review Online Honeydew is the latest effort to angle toward the elevated horror label without providing much substance to this framework. Raye L If you want to see a quality horror movie…. This is it !! An instant cult classic. Shot, Directed & Edited beautifully .. the sound mixing was especially good- and really wonderful acting all around. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/08/23 Full Review Andrew Joe D I enjoyed this film. The cinematography is really atmospheric and there's a lot of tension. It was also engaging and very scary! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/29/23 Full Review Chelsea T SPOILER. time I will never get back. awful plot. nothing redeeming about this flick. the background noise/soundtrack was irritating and a distraction. in terms of the plot, the likelihood that two elderly people are able to maim and maintain partial bodies on a farm is not likely. they managed to keep alive a head/ torso in a box with a compression suit and by feeding her cheeks. not sold. to add a gross factor they try to mate the remaining bodies. its all ridiculous and not remotely enjoyable to watch. i also dont understand the lemons Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/24 Full Review z k Started out ok enough but even with suspension of disbelief I cannot believe an 80yr old woman who can barely move can overpower a young man. Then again he was pretty much a vegan as was his girlfriend so I guess that explains it. Scariest part of the movie- fat drooling moaning Lena Dunham showing up. Nasty.scary. terrifying!!!! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/24 Full Review Audience Member Horrible horrible horrible. Don’t see through to the end as it won’t get any better nor will you get any satisfactory repercussions for the cannibals. Looking for a good scare but this was just a supreme waste of my time. Just when you think it might get better it will get worse. Run, don’t walk from this one. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/19/23 Full Review Tyler B This movie has everything it needs to be great EXCEPT the timeline. It's way too off to feel believable. There's no way that everything happened in one night. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
