Audience Member A multilayered psychological drama with very strong performances by the lead actors. A devastating diagnosis reveals the emotional turmoil a family is thrown into and Andrea Bræin Hovig gives a breathtaking performance ! Based on a true story, the movie has a tight and fast paced script that is a study on human nature, relationships and life's unpredictable turns. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member I thought Hope was the second best movie screened at the Toronto International Film Festival. Despite the generic title and the serious subject matter--a woman (and her family) struggling with the reality that she has incurable cancer, the movie is well worth going out of your way to see. I'd rank it right on a par with Haneke's Amour which had roughly similar subject matter. Hope earns its emotional power honestly and with no cheap tricks, and both central performances by Hovig and Skarsgard are absolutely brilliant, especially Hovig who gives one of the finest performances I have seen in a long time. I'll be amazed if this movie isn't in my Top Five by the end of the year. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Read all reviews
