Whipping up promising ingredients and elegantly plating them, House of Spoils has the presentation down but ultimately delivers empty calories.

Jacob Oller AV Club The haunted restaurant horror tosses plenty into the pot, but the half-developed flavors rest uneasily on the palate. Rated: C- Oct 25, 2024 Full Review Alison Foreman indieWire House of Spoils should mainly be recommended for bringing an unusual spectral essence to a dish you might otherwise turn down. You won’t want seconds, but it’s worth the taste test even picked for parts. Rated: B- Oct 4, 2024 Full Review Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News “House of Spoils” is a cut above most recent Blumhouse movies and is observant to the insane pressures of the restaurant biz. Rated: 2.5/4 Oct 2, 2024 Full Review Santanu Das Hindustan Times House of Spoils is too distracted by its own choices to make any commentary about consumer culture. The finale leaves a laughably bad aftertaste. Dec 19, 2024 Full Review Xero Gravity Big Gold Belt Media "There are unlimited ways to introduce fear into cinematic stories, but unfortunately House of Spoils avoids pretty much all of them" Rated: 1/5 Nov 20, 2024 Full Review Andy Klein FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It is exciting while it goes along, but that ending was so off-the-wall that I was left confused, frankly. KURT G What a disappointing ending. The movie actually had an interesting theme and was building good momentum until the scene where the chef crawls through the tunnel and comes upon a corpse. From that point on, the storyline and the script becomes LAME. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/10/24 Full Review M E Great and intriguing plot that kept me engaged Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/27/24 Full Review Audience Member What's with Blumhouse making these movies lol we had a haunted swimming pool movie and now we've got a haunted kitchen. This movie was so stupid. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/15/24 Full Review Julie C Although I'm sure intentional, the over exaggerated gesturing of 'chef' was cringe worthy, especially the outdoor feast scene, it was almost too embarrassing to watch!! Directed differently the film would have been so much better. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/09/24 Full Review Spike D The intrigue of a new kitchen is far more gripping than the supernatural goings-on, but it's the latter that ultimately wrest control of the story and refuse to give it back. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/08/24 Full Review John C I just couldn't get past how unlikable the characters were in this. Not sure if it was the characters necessarily or the actors themselves... but it was a hard watch to say the least Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/04/24 Full Review Read all reviews
