Barry Hertz Globe and Mail Meyers must have been truly in love with his story to carry it all the way to development. But for anyone else who watches the film, it will be hard to remember it as anything more than a brief, middling affair. Rated: 2/4 Aug 5, 2016 Full Review Linda Barnard Toronto Star More sort-of character study than passionate exploration of an affair, How He Fell in Love is a rather one-sided relationship. Rated: 2/4 Aug 4, 2016 Full Review Steve Greene indieWire Despite Travis and Ellen's breezy, walk-and-talk chemistry, Meyers wisely prizes the moments when the two are trading wordless glances, trying to decipher each other's in turn. Rated: B Jul 19, 2016 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews A well-intentioned yet thoroughly tedious misfire... Rated: 1/4 Aug 9, 2016 Full Review Alexander Huls National Post Moments in the script - a first kiss or flowering of guilt - occur so abruptly, it's as if emotional context was never considered. Rated: 1/4 Aug 5, 2016 Full Review Bob Strauss Los Angeles Daily News It's the type of mature drama that's rarely seen in American movies -- even the indie ones. Audience Member Worth watching on a slow night, not earth shattering but not a Lifetime movie either. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Not much to say. I enjoyed it though. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member HHFIL is a tastefully presented love story. It was great! Artistic. Acting genuinely real and human. I could feel the actors feelings. They portrayed their experiences together so well. Cinematography of Ruben O'Mally was exceptional and different from most movies. Matt McGorry (Travis) acted well in his "loving." It felt very real. Amy Hargreaves (Ellen) was excellent, her emotional contribution to film extraordinary. I felt Travis and Ellen did really care about each other. Their acting was genuine and loving. - I can't wait to see Marc Meyers' next film, "My Friend Dahmer." It will be a film of extraordinary proportions. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved this movie. No bells and whistles or Hollywood hijinks - only an honest look at what happens in real life when people find themselves faced with less than convenient romantic entanglements. Great story line, beautifully acted and artfully directed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A great film with really good acting from the whole cast. It avoided being a cliche romance-- felt unscripted and natural. It had a nice, sort of unpredictable ending that was believable and not all- Hollywood-ish. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Beautifully filmed. Beautifully acted. Romantic, real, sexy and gives audiences lots to think about Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
