      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

How to Please a Woman is disappointingly timid in some respects, but Sally Phillips' sparkling performance offsets many of this sex-positive comedy's nagging flaws.

Patrick S. This was a very funny film. Can’t say it’s groundbreaking by any means, but on its own, it sets out what it’s going for pretty well, and makes for a fun time! Seek it out Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/25/22 Full Review Jeff M For those of you who liked films such as THE FULL MONTY and CALENDAR GIRLS in which frumpy, middle-aged people with pleasant accents make being naughty and scandalous seem almost wholesome, well, this is the ticket for you. This is the type of movie for which adjectives such as "nice" and "pleasant" are tailor-made. And that's not necessarily a bad thing - sometimes a simple diversion is all we can tolerate at times. The one truly outstanding element of the movie is the lead performance by Phillips who is absolutely charming in a mousy sort of way. I suppose one could also glean a deeper meaning behind the fluff about the importance of sexual fulfillment. In that respect, this would make a fine companion piece to GOOD LUCK TO YOU, LEO GRANDE with Emma Thompson that came out earlier in the year. Put this on while cooking dinner or wrapping gifts - you don't have to pay overly close attention and every now and then when you look up, you might get a good chuckle or two. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review al w A quirky movie, with some of the best older Australian actresses. The writing is fun. The perspective is one that you rarely see on screen Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review I S So good!!! Such a lovely time! Refreshing! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/03/22 Full Review Donna B This is a lovely gentle romantic comedy that even my hubby enjoyed despite it having no murders or Swedish accents! The cast is delightful and the set up believable. It had a nice balance of pathos and laughs and I thoroughly recommend. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/28/22 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Noel Murray Los Angeles Times While its premise is at times iffy, the movie as a whole has a refreshing randiness about it. Light intrigue is often not enough, though, and in this case, the movie strains to sustain charm.
