TRAVIS G I just watched the movie HUBCAP! The movie has a lot of strong scenes that I enjoyed watching and were also quite comical. The movie is directed and written by Dick Mays. Lead actors I enjoyed watching were Ash Hamilton playing Rainy Lawson and Adam Boyer playing the character of Dr. Bo Adams. The movie has good suspense, very good dialogue and drama and tons of unique scenes. It’s definitely an original movie to watch! It was also shot in a cool way with many cool scenes to see and quite intriguing. The production value is quite high! The story pulls you in many directions as you're watching this movie. I also thought the lead actors had great onscreen chemistry– they were great together and the suspense was very high. The sets are great for an indie movie. I look forward to what this director and filmmaker can achieve in his upcoming bright career! Check this movie out! You’ll remember it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/25 Full Review Kolo P The concept of a film where a hubcap is a killer on the loose (yes, the ones on old fashioned cars!) was so random and novel that it had to be a spoof comedy. I found the film style to be very much like the office TV series in some of its setup and content (which is a good thing) and the characters’ deadpan responses to the very wacky idea of a killer hubcap. The film characters don’t seem much bothered by the concept and I was waiting to see if anyone would burst out laughing in the story but nothing - all of which adds to the genre of this film. It does have some good twists and turns to keep you watching and the ‘victims’ of the hubcap all seem totally serious about their encounters with the deadly chrome plated disc. I was so intrigued as to how the filmmakers made the hubcap (real not CGI) move around and roll etc, all of which took me off the issue about a killer hubcap! Crazy yes, but that is the beauty of this film and a well crafted and innovative story. Definitely worth a watch for the fun! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/30/25 Full Review ETHAN M "Hubcap" delivers a fun, campy horror experience reminiscent of cult classics like Rubber and Christine. Set in a conservative mountain town, the film follows Rainy Lawson, Georgia’s first female sheriff, as she takes on a supernatural killer with an unusual form—a possessed hubcap. Alongside the horror, the film weaves in themes of vengeance, romance, and deep-seated social tensions, making for an engaging watch. The movie embraces its B-movie aesthetic, leaning into the absurdity of its premise while keeping the audience hooked with its eerie atmosphere and unexpected moments of dark humor. It’s a blend of supernatural horror and small-town drama that feels fresh and unpredictable. That said, there are some technical shortcomings, particularly in the sound design. The dialogue mixing is inconsistent, with moments where background noise fluctuates noticeably between cuts. Some lines also seem to suffer from microphone issues, which can be a bit distracting. However, these flaws don’t detract too much from the overall experience. If you enjoy quirky horror films where everyday objects turn deadly, Hubcap is well worth a watch. It’s a creative, revenge-driven horror flick with a unique premise, and despite some technical hiccups, it remains thoroughly entertaining.
