It is curious to see how years later, Peaches has been growing up & having the typical family messes such as Manny keeping her away from the Brat pack. Despite the arguments, she does love him & it is terrifying to see the continents break apart separating her from Manny, like will she & her father ever see each other again? Another part of what makes this Ice Age movie so worthy was about the villain, Captain Gutt who gave whoever boarded his ship Stockholm syndrome (because they owe their lives to him & he can mistreat them). Heck, Captain Gutt never lets anybody get off, however his shanty is so great. He is the best villain out of Ice Age movies. Some other lovely characters were introduced, like Shira (Diego's later love interest) & Granny (Sid's grandmother) - Sid's family abandoned him! The movie even shows not to bully since Peaches got bullied for being with possums (her mother Ellie was raised by possums). The thing is, most top critics are probably likely over the age of 20 years old. If you watched this film as a kid, there’s an 80% chance you absolutely LOOVVED it. The original Ice Age movies are great, but just because this one takes a different direction doesn’t mean its quality should be overlooked. It stands as a genuinely good movie on its own, yet its uniqueness is the very reason most people perceive it negatively, If everyone were to be more honest (setting originality traits aside), it likely would’ve earned an 87%. i bet if they had simply included the baby and the humans, they wouldn’t even need to do or say anything.
