Bruce DeMara Toronto Star Here's a safe prediction: movie critics are going to have fun with the title of If I Were You. Rated: 1.5/4 Nov 28, 2013 Full Review Lou Lumenick New York Post "If I Were You'' has more than its share of laughs, but director Joan Carr-Wiggin needed to cut half an hour to make this fly without interest flagging. Rated: 2/4 Mar 15, 2013 Full Review Mark Olsen Los Angeles Times Harden is a wonderful actress but struggles to find the complexity in so strained a situation. Rated: 2/5 Mar 14, 2013 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com It's been a minute since we've seen [Marcia Gay Harden] in a really juicy lead role, and she sinks her teeth into this one. How unfortunate then that nothing else about the film even comes close to matching her considerable talents. Aug 8, 2019 Full Review Brent Simon Shared Darkness An odd little duck of a film [that] kicks around enjoyably for a while in the same sandbox as some of Woody Allen's mid-career farces, before eventually pivoting and skipping off into less rewarding territory. Rated: C Mar 17, 2013 Full Review David Noh Film Journal International An anti-rom-com in the best sense, Joan Carr-Wiggin's film joyously revives the screwball tradition with real wit, as well as making one fabulously tart female buddy movie. Maria M Nice take on infidelity, human insecurity and our need for acceptance. Marcia is wonderful in this role. Gentle human movie about the nature of love and forgiveness. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/12/24 Full Review Marilyn Moments B Cute premise, not overly surprising storyline but enjoyable. A rare movie in that the actors have emotional range, not just raising their voices to express themselves. I really enjoyed it. Recommend. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/05/23 Full Review Diane E I agree with many of the critics that this movie was too long, with too many subplots. However, the one I would have shed was the one with the Aiden Quinn character, and I would have kept the King Lear production. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/01/23 Full Review Nourtan A It's a light feel good movie with nice atmosphere and moral Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/30/23 Full Review Andrew H I can't believe this witty movie which was obviously played by a cast with real commitment gets 13%. It's an outrage. If you're a fan of light comedy/farce in the vein of Sondheim or Coward etc then this is a really enjoyable way to spend an hour or two. I came across it on the off-chance, checked some reviews via other sources, and went for it on the basis of how good those reviews are. I am so glad I decided to watch this, it's an excellent production. Recommended. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/20/23 Full Review David K There are many misplaced audience reviews here for a different movie from Brazil, with a conventional body-switching plot. The real movie is a witty Canada/English co-production with an excellent cast and a novel script. The dyspeptic critics hated it, but in fact it's quite funny, and it is NOT too long. My wife and I watched it as a second streaming feature one night and were never bored. Quite a few laughs. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews
