Audience Member The caiman tells the story of a young director, Teresa, who, with the help of a 70s B movies producer, wants to make a film about the caiman, former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi. The film focuses on both the producer's personal life and his working life. Although this anti-Berlusconian satire film fails to fully achieve its goal, the Italian director Nanni Moretti still succeeds in denouncing a part of Italian society. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review nefasto r Qui i critici dovrebbero farsi i fatti loro, sinceramente. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Quando questo film si sviluppa senza Moretti èun film quasi come tanti altri. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member not one of his best, but worth to see. Loved the fake bmovies at the beginnings. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member it didn't quite make it.. seems all the actors here are struggling to try to tell a story and actually don't tell it... looks like they were afraid the movie would be cersored.. Peter Howell Toronto Star [Director Moretti] wraps his political agenda with an affecting story about a fading filmmaker whose dreams and beliefs aren't weathering the storms of middle age. If the politics don't get you, the life empathy will. Rated: 3/4 Jun 15, 2007 Full Review Ian Johns Times (UK) Some moments amuse but one's left wishing that Moretti had ditched his film-within-a-film framework and made either a documentary or a domestic drama. Rated: 3/5 Apr 7, 2007 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian Muddled and messy anti-Berlusconi satire now looks even more exasperating than when I first saw it. Rated: 1/5 Apr 7, 2007 Full Review James Wegg JWR ... the film-within-the film wraps, but the willful manipulation of honest citizens continues unabated. Rated: 4.5/5 Jun 27, 2007 Full Review Jim Slotek Jam! Movies An unfocused mess of a movie that fairly throws its hands in the air in the final act, rather than chug along to a conclusion. Rated: 3/5 Jun 15, 2007 Full Review Anton Bitel Projected Figures one can only assume that it was the accumulation of Berlusconi's own indiscretions that cost him the 2006 elections rather than the muted blows of this aimlessly incoherent and over-clever satire.
