Charles Bramesco Inside Hook The mindbending auteur's latest film feels like a culmination of all that came before it. Sep 21, 2021 Full Review Adam Nayman The Ringer I'm Thinking of Ending Things doesn't just dramatize this condition but embodies it through Kaufman's daringly divergent interpretation of Iain Reid's source novel-the most idiosyncratic literary adaptation since Adaptation... Jan 27, 2021 Full Review Nick Schager Esquire Magazine It's a masterwork of unhinged tone, as well as a showcase for Buckley, whose grand performance covers an expansive stretch of emotional terrain. Jan 27, 2021 Full Review Diana Tuova Spotlight on Film One time-wasting exercise in awkwardness, exasperation and pretentiousness. It’s unconventional, but so is director Charlie Kaufman. Apr 23, 2024 Full Review Ryan McQuade InSession Film Kaufman’s look at love, loss, legacy, and musicals is just downright bonkers. jon m This film is Magnetic and Amazing -- for those of you who are confused -- listen to the dialog, it is telling you everything. And pay very close attention to what Jesse Buckley is saying to herself... This is a fascinating and unforgettable film! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/11/24 Full Review Pam C Terrible, Terrible. I kept waiting for pieces in the movie to connect. They never do. The pointless conversations in the car just go on and on. They never tied in any of the pieces. Don't waste your time. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/11/24 Full Review Ulises A Impossible to stop thinking about it. It’s like being trapped in a dream that doesn't end. Sad and unforgettable. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/25/24 Full Review Doreen M This is the first movie that I have seen where in order to “understand” any of it, you actually have to read the book as well. It almost seems like they made the movie to answer some of the questions you would have about the book (or vice versa?). Like the book and the movie are companions. The mood I got from the book was way more sinister especially when they got to the school and very tame when that same part came in the movie. They didn’t touch on the mentally unstable “brother” much in the movie but more in the book. Either way, great actors and both book and movie with endings that left you dazed Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/21/24 Full Review Tanya K It is a brilliant movie - stark and lovely and tragic. The dialogue is brutal and painful, and the cinematography reflects the stark lives of the characters. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/11/24 Full Review Kyle G I would give this movie zero stars if it was an option. What a complete load of trash. Makes no sense (don’t try to give me some kind of existential bullshit explanation), and as you keep watching you continue waiting for something to happen that sheds some light on what is going on. Instead you receive endless non-sensical dialogue that continues down a rabbit hole until the movie simply ends with some weird dance scene between two characters never even seen or heard from before in the movie. This scene takes forever (also no explanation or attempt at disclosing any info as to why this is happening), and you have no idea why you just wasted over two hours of your life when it simply ends with some weird pig animation that I guess is supposed to be a hallucination. Unfortunately you are again left guessing who this weirdo is that’s naked and talking to a pig. I can only assume he must somehow be the main male character as an older man, but who knows. It would be nice if the director attempted to create and tell even a semblance of a story instead of just leaving the whole thing up for interpretation and hiding behind that as an excuse for throwing together a bunch of incoherent scenes and dialogue and calling it a movie. Netflix needs to remove this garbage immediately. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/09/24 Full Review Read all reviews
