Bradley Gibson Film Threat In Her Name has delightful moments of pure gold that rise above a scattered base layer of homage to an older film style. Victor O A moment of inspiration has led me to look into Sarah Carter’s filmography and this movie caught my attention. Sarah Carter is a wonderful actress that I’ve seen in TV and films but it would appear she is a Jill of All Trades with being an actress, musician, and now a director. With the Tribeca Films seal of excellence behind this I wondered what this was about and thought it worth my time. Fiona and Freya are two grown women, sisters who reunite after years of being split by their parents. The father being an artist who fell in love with a beautiful woman who bore him his daughters but his eccentricities and inadequacies caused him to split from the mother of his two girls. The split has weighed heavily on the sisters, with the mother dead and the father on the verge of death himself. Fiona is a sweet, but emotionally starved homemaker who lived with her mother halfway across the country after she split from her father. Freya is an artist like her father but lives without passion due to her father surrounding himself with vapid artists like himself. As Fiona returns to her dying father, the broken bonds between her sister and father, as well as her own passions come to fruition. Not bad at all. I was inspired to look up Sarah Carter and it looks like she’s done a great job in a nicely made film. So good of Tribeca to give this their seal of approval because its well deserved. I even love the director’s cameo in a small but vital role. I’m a guy, but I have to admit this tugged at the heartstrings for my own siblings. This was time well spent.
