Critics Consensus

Incarnate can't be accused of lack of ideas -- if only any of them made sense or coalesced in any meaningful or scary way.

Katie Rife AV Club It's all a wild jumble of half-baked, derivative ideas and arbitrary rules, all of which add up to a suspense-free horror narrative as murky as its lighting. Rated: C- Dec 2, 2016 Full Review Sam Fragoso TheWrap Strident rhetoric is required for describing Brad Peyton's latest film, a maddening hodgepodge of ideas that range from undercooked to unoriginal. Dec 2, 2016 Full Review Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter Incarnate, much like its central character at key moments, barely seems to have a pulse. Dec 2, 2016 Full Review Jordy Sirkin Jordy Reviews It While it attempts to change up the exorcist themes, it ultimately falls flat, as it really isn't giving the viewer much by way of entertainment or scares. Jul 11, 2020 Full Review Allen Adams The Maine Edge In Incarnate, we get the latest in a fairly long, uneven line of exorcism movies. And while it is far from the worst of the bunch, it also fails to do much with what starts out as a fairly interesting idea. Rated: 1.5/5 Feb 14, 2019 Full Review Micheal Compton Bowling Green Daily News Too convoluted for its own good. The film takes itself seriously when it probably should have embraced its borderline silliness. Rated: D Nov 3, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/29/23 Full Review Aiden W The movie was a rumbling mess. It had a very predictable plot, if you can even call it that, and had little to no scares in it. Over all I would say it had very predictable "Plot twists" and plot. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/22/23 Full Review Tommy It's a bad sign if Aaron Eckhart is your headlining actor and it ripped off too many things from Inception. Still, it was at least passable. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/25/23 Full Review Natalie S Predictable, not much character development, and the pacing seemed off. I didn't feel invested. I read about there being a "twist" online, and ended up creating a far more interesting one in my mind than the one that ended up happening. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/21/23 Full Review robert p I had trouble following this movie for some reason, nothing made any sense at all! Plus I do not care for boys to wear long hair, it makes them look effeminate! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Nothing to get invested in, and the plot is as thin as can be. Ending was not a surprise. I felt nothing from this movie.
