Patrick W Shades of Ingmar Bergman in modern New York as a family tragedy leads to characters sorting through their complex emotions to make sense and meaning of their lives and their relationships. This is an emotionally intelligent and truthful film of three characters, wonderfully played by the lead cast, navigating their feelings and backgrounds to enhance their connections with each others and find love, support and happiness. The smart script lets the events unfold naturally and the equally smart direction doesn't judge their actions but lets the events speak for themselves as we watch how the characters react. The characters experience grief but this film movingly proves the old adage that grief is just "love letting go" though focusing on the love and respect between the characters. Highly recommended. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Marisa P I was deeply pulled into this story from the stupendous acting performances, perfect casting, life-like writing, beautiful cinematography, great editing and emotional score. The character and relationship development and acting was so strong that I cared about the characters and could feel what they felt. As a result I had to see how the story of these 3 unfolded and was invested from beginning to end. It was worth the investment. A great film that I highly recommend to anyone interested in a moving, intimate psychological drama. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/06/24 Full Review Audience Member This is not your average love story. Starting with, one of the members of this intriguing love triangle is dead. It's a combination drama and mystery story that grows more intriguing as it unfolds. And it's a very well made film. The cast is excellent. You will recognize many of the actors. The director has an eye for talent, and she directs her intelligent cast with a sure hand. And you will absolutely believe the reality of the story. The depictions of AA, addiction, bipolar disorder, etc. are all handled well. It's a complex, interesting film that doesn't settle for easy answers. I heartily recommend it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/04/24 Full Review Kristina L Incredible directing and thoughtful, beautiful acting! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/03/24 Full Review Jack L Julia Kots makes an extraordinary feature film debut with this film, which is a great example of what a true artist can do with a tiny budget and a strong cast. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/02/24 Full Review Alec C Doug finds out why you don’t get between two sisters. Inez has committed suicide, and it becomes Doug’s obsession to find out why. Through a series of flashbacks the film works both backwards, while keeping time with the present (where he is married to Inez’s sister, Kira). There are a series of twists. Inez & Doug & Kira is very much a psychological drama, with elements of mystery. It’s a film that deals with mental illness and its common foil: gas-lighting. The performances of the three principles are highly intimate and emotionally moving. The characters are not always likeable, but very believable. Great pacing. Standout performances by Tawny Cypress, Michael Chernus, and Talia Thiesfield. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/30/24 Full Review Read all reviews
