In 1984, a family throws a birthday party for twins Cory and Jessie. 30 years later, what's left of the family reunites for the father's funeral, at two isolated houses in the New Forest, England, historically a hotbed of witchcraft. There, horrific truths are slowly uncovered about the family's occult pact with an ancient evil that has secretly been at the core of their wealth and power, as the remaining siblings uncover the true bloody darkness behind their inheritance.

Catherine Bray Guardian Pseudo-schlock of the Sharknado type is of course available in abundance, but those films are trying to be so bad they’re good, which Inherit the Witch doesn’t seem to be. Rated: 1/5 Oct 1, 2024 Full Review Ygraine Hackett-Cantabrana What a Scream Podcast Inherit The Witch misses out on creating a solid folk horror centred around its setting and the New Forest history of witchcraft, and instead transforms into a family soap drama. Rated: 1.5/5 Oct 30, 2024 Full Review Trace Thurman Horror Queers Podcast Poor production values and even worse performances plague Inherit the Witch, making for a rather dull slog as it lumbers along to its finale. Rated: 1.5/5 Oct 7, 2024 Full Review Joe Lipsett Horror Queers Podcast Despite a few fun performances and an unexpected ending, the feuding family film is overly plotted, feels drawn out, and features some pretty dodgy acting. Oct 7, 2024 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall With a blackly comical tone, actor-filmmaker Cradeaux Alexander gleefully springs jump scares and grisly discoveries on the audience. It's more of a bonkers horror treat than genuinely frightening, which definitely isn't a bad thing. Rated: 3/5 Oct 1, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

B P Death Unburies Family Secrets. ‘Inherit the Witch’ has an intriguing premise, but the execution could have been better. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/07/24 Full Review Nico L Inherit the Witch is an unfortunate failure for the psychological horror genre. Its attempts at esoteric storytelling fall flat, leaving the narrative muddled and inaccessible rather than mysterious or compelling. Coupled with poorly executed editing choices, the film's pacing and flow are severely compromised, stripping away any suspense or emotional weight the story might have had. Key moments that could have elevated the horror are instead lost in the jarring transitions and uneven structure. While the film may have had some ambition, its lack of coherence and the failure to engage its audience on a psychological level ultimately make it a disappointing entry in the genre.
