Barry G Andrzej Wajda's masterclass filmmaking turned this seemingly simple love story drama into a beautiful psychological portrait of people, not only young ones, as descriptions tried to sell it back in 1961. With excellent acting and its music being absolutely superb, "Innocent Sorcerers" is high on the list of top Polish films, being maybe even Poland's all-time best. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/14/23 Full Review Shioka O Highly stylish Polish new wave. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member What is supposed to be witty exchanges is just pretentious platitudes. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member A sweet would-be-love story from Andrzez Wadja, that is an affable black sheep amongst the rest of his films. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm hoping to find a Wajda film I like as much as Kanal, but this one isn't it. It's okay... slightly new wave, as if influenced by Breathless, but I believe it actually came out first. Most of it consists of one conversation between the two main characters, whose flippant tone with each other hides a deeper desire to connect. A nice movie, but not too fulfilling. Keep an eye out for young Roman Polanski. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member quite a poetic and magical movie. it's all just a play, just a game...and the jazz suits so ideally Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

David Thompson Time Out If the film still has value, it lies in the compelling lead performances and the vivid portrait of a newly restless milieu. Jun 24, 2006 Full Review Chicago Reader The film serves as a fascinating document of Polish youth culture during the least repressive years of the communist era, as well as a rough draft for the freewheeling comedies Skolimowski would soon direct himself May 27, 2006 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews I never warmed up to the would-be lovers.
