In this drama based on real events, Dr. Stephen Bolsin (Aden Gillett) works as an anesthetist at the British Royal Infirmary, which begins to specialize in a cutting-edge open-heart surgery for children with congenital defects. His hopes for the procedure begin to wane when an inordinate number of children die due to complications after receiving the specialized treatment. When surgery chief Dr. James Wisheart hides the resulting deaths and spins favorable reports, Bolsin blows the whistle.
