What to Know

Critics Consensus

Interceptor might spark a flicker of interest in viewers jonesing for a no-nonsense action thriller, but there's nothing here they haven't seen before.

Audience Says

A few fun fight scenes aren't enough to make up for the cheap-looking Interceptor's predictable, sloppily written story.

Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com A Die Hard clone set inside a top-secret military installation that’s the last line of defense against Russian nuclear aggression, high-octane actioner Interceptor is a waste of time. Rated: 1/4 Jun 11, 2022 Full Review Wenlei Ma News.com.au Interceptor is a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad movie. It’s as dull as watching Eisteddfod while sober and as nuanced as a pantomime populated with ex-Neighbours stars. Rated: 0/4 Jun 5, 2022 Full Review Brittany Patrice Witherspoon Pop Culture Reviews The latest Netflix feature may be all kinds of impractical and over-the-top, but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that every moment in this 96-minute runtime is downright entertaining. Rated: 3/5 Jul 23, 2024 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies “Interceptor” somehow manages to hold your attention. Lots of it has to do with Pataky who earns our sympathies. Not so much for the terrorist threat her character faces, but for the task she’s given of making a really sub-par script entertaining. Rated: 2/5 Aug 16, 2022 Full Review Cris Kennedy The Canberra Times (Australia) I hope Netflix gives Reilly the kind of budget for his sophomore effort so that he might be able to take the camera out into the wider world. Michael C Before I watched this on Netflix I just finished The Gray Man about 2 weeks ago. And then Netflix hilariously recommended Interceptor as the next similar film that I should check out. Big mistake. I've seen better action choreography from comedy film, heck, I think I've seen better action from some cosplay ninja police whatever themed adult film. So what's the big problem with Interceptor. Well, basically there is this film that came out in 1992 called "Under Siege" starring Steven Seagal. Just watch that and compare Interceptor to Under Siege and you'll see what the big problem is. or should I say the lack thereof, the action. In Under siege the protagonist roamed the whole ship taking the bad guys out one by one until the good guys defeated all the bad guys. In Interceptor, the protagonist stare angrily at the bad guy for like an hour. and then there is like maybe a bit of fighting here and there and near the end. No epic gun fight, no epic cqc, just a bit of smacking around near the end to fill the action quota, and that's it. Had they do a similar script like Under Siege and do a Guerrilla warfare that gradually wears down the terrorist that would have been a very good film. Case in point, Under Siege and The Rock, all very good action film that I'd watch again and again. And then the villain, what a boring character, doing all this for money!? seriously, I'd remember the general from The Rock because there is that human moment where he choose not to kill innocent civilian with missiles or how Tommy Lee Jones play this kind of crazy but charismatic mastermind because they got a thing that makes them a great villain instead of an angry guy with a gun. So to sum it up. This movie is really bad. Whom ever wrote the script should maybe watch some action film or read some books because they have no idea how to write a good action film. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/09/25 Full Review Sammy D Such a tiresome cliche. I just wasted an hour and half. Most of these types of movies feature a woman as the US president. I guess the writer thought Kamela would win. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/01/25 Full Review Darryl S A small woman with one arm incapacitated beats up a trained mercenary with torture skills! Saving the world with 1/3rd second to spare. Too many crazy things. I was busy elsewhere and had this on in the background, no way could I have sat and given it my full attention. Chris Hemsworth obviously thought being an Executive Producer gave him the right to a small part in the movie. A stupid, annoying part! Each time he popped up I thought why is he being such a clown? Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/01/25 Full Review Linda G Very entertaining. The star was awesome! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/22/25 Full Review Peter R As close to a Matthew Reilly book as you'd expect. Suspense and ridiculous feats of unbelievable heroism. Love it for the movie it is intended to be. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/17/25 Full Review Linda H The premise at the start was promising, then went downhill from there with too many holes. Especially at the end where she had only 3 minutes to save the USA, no way. Unrealistic. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/09/25 Full Review Read all reviews
