Jeff M This above average TV movie is bolstered by a terrific and utterly believable performance by young Mark Rendall as titular character Michael Crowe. The interrogation scenes are absolutely riveting and beautifully performed by Rendall, even though the cops do tend to come across a bit as stereotypical creeps. The fact that this is based on a true story makes the drama all the more powerful, and the events that occur all the more head-shakingly frustrating. To see the pain of this family exacerbated by the ordeal that follows their tragedy is heartbreaking. I always considered Sheedy the Meryl Streep of the Brat Packers back in the 80s, and it's always a pleasure to see her in an adult role. She and Riley, an actor I have never heard of but also excels beautifully, create a family unit we care about and want to succeed. It follows the typical based on a true story TV outline, but while it can't be congratulated for re-inventing the wheel, it can certainly be acknowledged for doing what it does quite well. Didn't finish it Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/24 Full Review Donald J An intriguingly dark look into real-life tragic events, "Michael Crowe" is a harrowingly constructed television film with excellent acting. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Scary that this is based on a true story !! Pretty well made, for a TV movie :-) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Without Mark Rendall's stellar performance, this probably wouldn't have been nearly as good a film. But for a kid, and one I've never seen in anything else, he was absolutely amazing. I don't know much of anything about the actual case so I'm not sure about sticking to facts, but this is definitely an engaging film with some great performances. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member That poor kid. Those detectives had to have been heartless to do that. It was very hard to watch.
