Pieter-Jan Van Haecke Psychocinematography Invasion of Astro Monster is a great narrative that is marred by budget and time-constraints. Jun 2, 2023 Full Review Bob Chipman Escapist Magazine This is a fun one, though a bit of a retread of the last one. May 22, 2019 Full Review Rob Humanick Nerdist The lip flapping English of the American version is only negligibly more entertaining. Rated: C May 21, 2019 Full Review Leo Goldsmith Not Coming to a Theater Near You Invasion has many pleasures, not least of which is its resemblance to Honda's earlier, more purely sci-fi ventures... But perhaps its most remarkable feature is its subtle, but noticeable steps in rehabilitating Godzilla's character. May 11, 2019 Full Review Tim Brayton Antagony & Ecstasy Trivial sci-fi adventure nonsense, defensible only in that it has been made with unusual care and gravity. Rated: 6/10 Dec 1, 2013 Full Review TV Guide Staff TV Guide Rodan doesn't do much but caw and flap his wings, while Godzilla, in transition from fearsome monster to protector of humanity, is seen doing a goofy jig after the first battle with Ghidrah. randomshjt 2. Even though Godzilla and the other monsters are not in this movie as much, there are some really good human characters in this that do save the movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/21/25 Full Review Khaliel P Eager to capitalize on Godzilla, Toho rushed a sixth film, produced in under a year with recycled monsters and minimal screen time for the kaiju. The story follows astronauts exploring Planet X, where they encounter the Xiliens, who enlist Godzilla and Rodan to fight King Ghidorah in exchange for a supposed cure for cancer. Back on Earth, the astronauts are tricked, Ghidorah returns, and a chaotic final battle ensues, though the monsters are seen less than the human and alien storylines. Budget constraints and visible puppetry give the film a distinctly B-movie feel, making it one of the weakest entries in the franchise, primarily interesting for fans curious to see Godzilla in space. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/18/25 Full Review Dallas H Oh my gosh! Wow. If it could be any more cheesy, it would be sponsored by Velveeta and heavily feature product placement of "queso" products. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/25 Full Review josh d It sure what is up with the scores in this one. This is one of the better Showa era Godzilla movies. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/09/24 Full Review Evan C This was pretty solid. However the story feels local like it’s only happening at this place Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/24/24 Full Review Rich A Love the aliens in this one.
