Despite this slackening of narrative urgency, Wilson Yip has duplicated the flawed approach of the earlier movie with striking exactitude. Go to Full Review

There were multiple moments in this film where my blood was racing, and as soon as they ended it was all I could do to recompose myself and hopefully catch my breath before the next fight started. Go to Full Review

You're never at a loss to figure out who is fighting who, as in so many Western actioners these days, and Yen is the very model of simmering understatement. Go to Full Review

It’s all quite predictable and conventional but for the fight scenes, which Hong Kong great Sammo Hung designs with the energy and invention that recalls the glory days of Hong Kong action cinema... Go to Full Review

“Ip Man” is at least as good as the first part, and one of the greatest modern martial arts movies of all time. Go to Full Review

The entire trilogy - soon to become a tetralogy with Scott Adkins joining the ranks - makes for essential viewing but Master Ip's second outing outshines the rest. Go to Full Review

Jonathan K Nov 17 Kung fu! Yeah this is what I want out of a martial arts movie. The choreography is super cool. The fights were fun. Sure it's a bit corny or sappy in the end, as these things are, and the acting is not really why anyone's here. These are legit martial artists who are also actors. But, it does exactly what you want it to do. It's cool that it's based on a real person and the connections to Bruce Lee, of course. There's also some interesting socio-political context and themes of Chinese pride during the British occupation of Hong Kong in the '50s as a backdrop. The fighting is amazing, yet so is the story. This is another solid martial arts film where the fighting is incredible, and the story here is still really well put together. I villain, Twister, was cracking me up, and I haven't been able to stop saying "APOLOGIZE?! FOR WINNING?!" This is excellent Kung Fu which is specifically around Wing Chun, the fighting style Yip Man made famous. Absolutely spectacular Martial Arts that keeps your on the edge of your seat. This is a Period Drama based around 1940's-50's China-Britain relations. There is plenty of Action in this with some very stylish scenes, especially when Ip Man fights the other Masters. This is loosely a Biography based around the real Yip Man. There is a lot of Drama in this, both emotional and physical. This is based around real History from our past. Esa pelea final es algo único en peleas en películas! Tienes sus momentos lentos y absurdos pero no deja de ser algo buena. See more Read all reviews
