After returning home from the war, soldier Danny Miller (Frank Sinatra) heads straight to his old stomping grounds in Brooklyn, N.Y. He's determined to attain success as a singer -- and help his friends reach their own dreams along the way. Danny moves in with old chum Nick Lombardi (Jimmy Durante) and falls head-over-heels in love with schoolteacher Anne Fielding (Kathryn Grayson). But will an upper-crust acquaintance (Peter Lawford) wreck his new romance?
