av 8 @anagha.vinay 12h As I am about to mention in this review that this is one of my first action movies, I realise that I have rarely ventured out of the horror/romance/comedy/drama niche. I am glad that this is the beginning because it is a splendid mix of intellect and action to slowly ease me into the genre. Reacher is a drifter who has served in the army with distinction and earned the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, Defence Superior Service Medal, and a Purple Heart. With a carefully framed mystery and meticulously crafted villains, Reacher is constantly on a quest to throw surprises and revelations our way. I loved the sequences of action—fistfights, firearms, and hot pursuits. Some of the twists took me by immense surprise and kept my adrenaline high. It is an absolutely thrilling and engaging watch. No, Jack Reacher is not a hero, but he is a mad-lovable vigilante. He cannot be found unless he wants to be, and he keeps his promises. Even though I like Tom Cruise, I think watching the Amazon Prime version of Jack Reacher may have affected my view. Still, it was a fun popcorn movie, and I enjoyed it. Tom Cruise does a great job bringing the character to life with a calm, controlled intensity that fits the role well. What I liked most was how the movie focuses more on investigation and tension rather than nonstop action. It gives the story time to build, and the mystery keeps you engaged as things slowly come together. The action scenes are still there, but they feel more grounded and purposeful instead of over-the-top. The pacing is steady, even if it slows down in a few spots, and the overall story is interesting enough to keep your attention. Man, this was quite a different role for Tom Cruise compared to what I’m usually seeing him in. It was a nice change in my opinion. However, I wish he could’ve been given better stuff to do. As is, his character Jack Reacher is pretty cool, but I felt like it took a while for him to actually fight anyone. Oh, well. Luckily, the second and third acts of the movie REALLY made up for the first act. The car chase scene was awesome and the villain was menacing. I also thought Rosemond Pike was great in this too. Didn’t expect to see her. Overall, a spy action movie with a bit of a slow start that ultimately makes up for its lack of action in the first act. I would say it’s worth a watch.
