Even though I like Tom Cruise, I think watching the Amazon Prime version of Jack Reacher may have affected my view. Still, it was a fun popcorn movie, and I enjoyed it. Tom Cruise does a great job bringing the character to life with a calm, controlled intensity that fits the role well. What I liked most was how the movie focuses more on investigation and tension rather than nonstop action. It gives the story time to build, and the mystery keeps you engaged as things slowly come together. The action scenes are still there, but they feel more grounded and purposeful instead of over-the-top. The pacing is steady, even if it slows down in a few spots, and the overall story is interesting enough to keep your attention. Man, this was quite a different role for Tom Cruise compared to what I’m usually seeing him in. It was a nice change in my opinion. However, I wish he could’ve been given better stuff to do. As is, his character Jack Reacher is pretty cool, but I felt like it took a while for him to actually fight anyone. Oh, well. Luckily, the second and third acts of the movie REALLY made up for the first act. The car chase scene was awesome and the villain was menacing. I also thought Rosemond Pike was great in this too. Didn’t expect to see her. Overall, a spy action movie with a bit of a slow start that ultimately makes up for its lack of action in the first act. I would say it’s worth a watch. The movie looked like it was just made rather than being 14-years old. Silly fight at the end. It was really just a very good B-movie. See more andrea c @Charst Feb 3 Solidissimo action movie sia per il perfetto protagonista in stile Tom Cruise, spietato e letale almeno tanto quanto furbo ed intuitivo, che per la sceneggiatura solida se si considera la media del genere. L'elemento per distacco più interessante è quello che soggetto "da salvare" che si rivela fin da subito essere lontano dal prototipo di innocente e senza macchia; e che invece pone seri dilemmi etici e morali ai protagonisti su come muoversi. Le indagini sono poi abbastanza dettagliate da distinguersi dalla media. Anche il finale è per certi versi sorprendente nel suo cinismo e nell'assenza di moralismi classici del genere. Molto interessante il potenziale psicologico di un personaggio che non trova pace e un posto nel mondo.
