Audience Member David Wickes and Michael Caine return from making Jack the Ripper and once again the production is lavish, including filming in my home city, Oxford. As with all adaptations of the novella, much is needed to be added, and it works as a fairly straight forward drink potion, turn bad as you'd expect film, but much sympathy is wrought from Jekyll's plight. There is some decent love interest that doesn't descend to vomit-inducing mawkishness. Caine is great in both roles; he is genuinely creepy as Hyde, and the bubbling transformation scenes still retain their power today. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Looks like one of those films that come free in a newspaper, but one of the better ones. Michael Caine is very much the lead here, with nobody else really doing much. It all gets a bit hammy & pantomimey quite frequently, but is probably better for it. The scenes where Jekyll changes into Hyde are quite well done and good fun, if a little rubbery, and the ending is quite hilarious. I enjoyed it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member This man can do no wrong in my eyes. A wonderful treat at night especially when it's raining and foggy. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member W: 1. Though it was made in 1990 it looks like early '70's. What's up with that. Still enjoyable though. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member It is badly done, but the end and some escenes make it worth between 2 and 2.5 stars. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member It was sooo real and scary, although Sarah... Jekyll is not cute! U can definitely do better!
