Richard Brody New Yorker With its stark action and its clever techniques, the director Pete Ohs’s off-kilter ghost story has an old-fashioned, downbeat allure; it plays like a modern update on a Hollywood B-movie. Feb 24, 2023 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times A horror-comedy that doesn’t offer much in the way of scares or laughs but is strangely fascinating regardless. Feb 17, 2023 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times A brazenly odd yet gently appealing horror-comedy... Feb 14, 2023 Full Review Ygraine Hackett-Cantabrana The Geek Show (UK) Jethica is largely a beautifully cinematic expression of loneliness and the inbetween. Jul 9, 2024 Full Review Q.V. Hough Vague Visages Pete Ohs’ Jethica expands the possibilities of cinema. More of an innovative genre mashup than a traditional slow burn thriller, the 72-minute flick comedically addresses a serious topic — stalking — while exploring the emotional lives of ghosts. Dec 8, 2023 Full Review Vanessa Maki The Mary Sue I recommend Jethica to anyone who enjoys stunning scenery, a somewhat throwback film style, good performances from the leads, an unnerving depiction of stalking, and some comedic moments throughout. dave d An unorthodox film that I didn't get. There are ghosts and there are special rules and it's kinda sci-fi, but it also wants to be somewhat realistic. At 71 minutes it is a breeze and the audio is building to something that never happens. The reveal doesn't satisfy. There are some elements here that work, but then it becomes a ghost film. Not my cup of tea. Final Score: 4.3/10 Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/04/23 Full Review Christian K Well made but initially dragging, ends up being way away from you expected it to be, and I loved the ending, as unexpected as it was. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/01/23 Full Review Franois-Olivier G An interesting thought experiment on ghosthood, gracefully displayed. Too long despite its 70 minutes runtime. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/18/23 Full Review prawnda s it's interesting, but some scenes and dialogue feel a little too drawn out. screambox is not known for making finished products, so the 110 minute runtime is probably for the best. budget is very low, but i liked it enough. i'm taking off another half star because the after credits scene was 100% redundant. one of the other reviews said "it came full circle in a satisfying way" or something, and frankly it did not. sure, they used some of the same phrasing, but there was zero impact to this scene, and the criteria for IDing a ghost just didn't have any kind of ring to it. "can you touch my hand?" was just an empty and meaningless final line. we did not need a fourth ghost, especially one who is only on screen for 10 seconds. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/09/23 Full Review Chester Jessica,Jessica,Jethica...[Potential Thpoilers...I mean Spoilers] This movie features the most annoying ghost in the history of cinema. The story is simple, set in a barren landscape, and only has about 5 characters but is atmospheric and interesting enough to get a perfect score from me. I think some of the "ghost rules" were invented just for this film but they serve their purpose. Also includes some unexpected humor. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/28/23 Full Review Glenn Thomas D An OK film that could have been a really good short. Even at a little over an hour, it manages to feel long, because nothing happens in the first half hour. After that, it's fun and clever. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
