Audience Member Movie sucked .... they kept talking about what was happening with these people or what this person was thinking....then in the next sentence they tell us the person was killed immediately!!!! HOW IN THE HELL DO YOU KNOW WHAT THEY WERE DOING OR THINKING!?!?!? DID YOU HOLD A SEANCE???? Typical hollywood BS. If you want to see a REALISTIC movie about this tragedy, watch the film based upon David McCullough's book (or read the book or listen to the audiobook). BTW. I am FROM Johnstown, PA and was a National Guardsman during the 1977 Flood. My entire family saw this dog of a film on DVD and we threw the damn thing out by Unanimous vote! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member The 2003 remake of the 1926 silent film produced good results in my book, although it feels like a history lesson. It is almost like something you would see in a history class. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I didn't like this film. Chuck O'Leary FulvueDrive-in.com Mark Bussler's Johnstown Flood is an excellent documentary about one of the worst tragedies to occur in America during the 1800s. Rated: A Feb 20, 2006 Full Review Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com Rated: 2/5 Sep 24, 2005 Full Review David Keyes Cinemaphile.org Bussler understands the purpose of telling this story in documentary form, but it's the facts themselves that should be driving the storytelling, not the other way around. Rated: 2.5/4 Nov 5, 2003 Full Review Dan Lybarger Kansas City Star Johnstown Flood has its weaknesses (the firsthand accounts weren't written to be recited like dialogue), but it still does a fine job of explaining why the impact of May 31, 1889 remains with us. Rated: 2.5/4 Oct 22, 2003 Full Review Karina Montgomery Cinerina Story is king - if the budgetary limits are a little too obvious, we must smile and forgive, because the writing & research is excellent.
