Variety Staff Variety Now there's nothing wrong with uplift, except that exhortations customarily are banal. That is, the end is nearly destroyed by the means. Dec 11, 2007 Full Review Time Out Staff Time Out Richard Bach's best-selling parable for freshmen becomes on screen a very spelled-out allegory, complete with flat voice-overs and pretentious Neil Diamond soundtrack. Jun 24, 2006 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times This has got to be the biggest pseudocultural, would-be metaphysical ripoff of the year. Rated: 1/4 Oct 23, 2004 Full Review John Simon Esquire Magazine The film, at any rate, closely resembles every other predigested, semiliterate, mistily mystagogic piece of hope-mongering with which seekers after Great Life-giving Truths in small packages have been traditionally gulled. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/24/23 Full Review Pascal Z Not an easy watch but a spiritual, artistic hero‘s journey with a beautiful score and music by Neil Diamond. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/09/22 Full Review s r I loved this book and although the story is the same, it just goes to show that it's very easy to mess up a film. It's on the internet. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review peter w Overall, this is not going to be everyone's type of film and I feel it will be enjoyed by a selected audience. Granted, a talking seagull who is kicked out for being different is unlike anything I have seen before. Some moments are quite engaging and others are unfortunately quite slow. The film's soundtrack, delivered by Neil Diamond, like the film's plot, will also be pleasing to a select audience. Visuals are nice but audio quality relating to the soundtrack and narration was disappointing to me as it lacked quality and punch. The film's pace was also challenging but lovers of nature (especially seagulls) will have a completely different experience and opinion. It's clear the filmmakers have taken big risks in bringing a film like this to life and there is still an impressive amount of creativity which I admire no matter my final verdict. - Walkden Entertainment Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review robert p A wonderful movie filmed in breath taking shots, about a Seagull who is different from the rest of his flock.
