Simone Love is a gifted poet and emerging photographer, raised in the glow of a legendary romance. Her father, a world-famous author whose verses once defined the language of Black love, and her mother, a creative visionary behind the camera, spent 25 years capturing intimacy in all its forms. But now, their marriage is quietly collapsing, and the story Simone grew up believing in is coming undone. As she enters her final year of college, Simone finds herself torn between the beauty she creates and the truth she feels. Her art--equal parts image and verse--becomes her therapy, until an unexpected connection with Myles, a transfer athlete with his own emotional past, pulls her into something raw, magnetic, and possibly redemptive. Together, they explore what it means to love after illusion--through photos, through poems, through vulnerability. But as Simone's work deepens, so does her reckoning with the myth of forever, and the realization that sometimes the most powerful stories are the ones we choose to rewrite.

Vogue H JONESING: When Love Is a Habit is a powerful, poetic love story that feels like a spiritual successor to Love Jones, but stands firmly in its own lane. It captures the beauty and struggle of modern Black love—raw, honest, and unfiltered. The performances are real and relatable, especially the lead characters who carry the emotional weight of the film with grace. The dialogue feels like spoken word brought to life, blending vulnerability and sharp wit. And the visuals? Intimate and striking, perfectly framing the highs and lows of loving someone while still learning to love yourself. This isn’t your typical romantic drama—it’s a reflection of our habits, our heartbreaks, and the hope we cling to in between. A must-see for anyone who’s ever jonesed for love but struggled with letting go of what hurts. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/09/25 Full Review Read all reviews
