I loved it! It was almost better than being there. Clear and close up shots of the performers and excellent sound quality. Someone in the earlier comments mentions the video clip of Joni lecturing the audience and opines that they wouldn't want to be remembered for that. I was there at the Isle of Wight festival in 1970 when it happened and it was an incredibly brave thing to do to a huge audience. She was clearly very nervous but wanted the audience to pay more respect to the artists. What we see in the movie is fellow artists showing her the huge respect she has built up over the intervening years.
Stand out performances for me included Los Lobos, Seal and Rufus Wainwright. Special mention also to a brave Kris Kristofferson who is clearly and sadly suffering from some form of dementia. And I thought the balance of old favourites and more jazzy numbers was about right. She devoted a great deal of her later output to jazz influenced albums and, including some of these songs was wholly appropriate.
The DVD will definitely be on my birthday/Xmas list!

We love Joni but this tribute was disappointing for a few reasons. Unlike other tributes, there was a shortage of her contemporaries. Nothing against the youngbloods but I wouldï¿ 1/2(TM)ve rather seen more of her peers. The clips of Joni really didnï¿ 1/2(TM)t show her performing. In one, it showed her scolding the audience. Thatï¿ 1/2(TM)s not how Iï¿ 1/2(TM)d want people to remember me. Especially if they were younger members of the viewing audience who werenï¿ 1/2(TM)t familiar with her. There were only two video tributes from notables who couldnï¿ 1/2(TM)t be there in person. What, only two! It left us with the impression that there was a major lack of interest among her peers and contemporaries which just didnï¿ 1/2(TM)t add up.. we concluded that it was just a poorly orchestrated production. To us, that overshadowed most, but not all of the tribute performances. After all, we cam there for Joni and not to see a showcase of others, talented as they are...

Terrific date or posse film. I went with 4 others and we had such different love/hate reactions to the individual performances. All of us felt Joni 75 was worth seeing. The whole show had 7 or 8 spectacular performances, only a few misses, and the rest were good enough to justify the $15 AMC ticket for sure. The ï¿ 1/2house bandï¿ 1/2Â? terrific. The second half dragged some but was redeemed by 2-3 home run performances. We sat up front in the movie theatre and regretted it for the jumpy camera work.

So disappointing! Rather than a tribute, this film is an ego-trip on the part of the overwhelmingly male group of artists appropriating Joni's brilliance to put on a real downer of a concert. Where is Urge for Going, Chelsea Morning, Carey, Little Green, California, and all the rest of the early work that some of us have loved literally our entire lives? Even Big Yellow Taxi is viciously truncated. And they could only find one woman for the band (of course a violinist) while wasting Emmylou Harris shamefully? Honor Joni by skipping this infuriating travesty.
