A mostly likable effort, but it doesn't quite feel like a self-contained movie with a shape and a discernible point; it's more of a collection of material arranged in a way that more or less makes sense.

Joy Ride is the perfect example of "less is more." One imagines there could be a three-hour cut of these adventures, but who needs that? This feels like the best bits from the bunch, and Goldthwait is economical in his pacing.

Bobcat Goldthwait and Dana Gould have an undeniable comic chemistry as they tell their mostly hilarious stories on stage and off. It's essentially a stand up special, but it's really well edited and spliced together as Goldthwait uses footage from various routines. They also combine archival videos from their early comedic appearances to give context to the stories. These two come off authentic and lovely and the laugh ratio is out of this world! Final Score: 9/10

Dana and Bobcat masterfully weave the past, the present and the crazy in a delightful way. I was lucky enough to see the original show at Largo and now again to see them present it at Largo. The crowd roared with laughter at the movie as did I. A really fun ride, full of joy and also very touching. A++++
