Namrata Joshi Outlook Overlong and plodding. Rated: 2/4 May 6, 2015 Full Review Justine Elias Boston Globe Even amid the delights of this Bollywood spectacle, Dev and Maya are left fretting like leftover characters from a Douglas Sirk melodrama -- not so much passionate as sorrowful and poignant. Rated: 2/4 Nov 24, 2011 Full Review Neil Genzlinger New York Times For something so silly and so long, however, the film is surprisingly engaging, thanks largely to its very watchable actors; it's easy to see why they are international stars in the world of Hindi films. Aug 26, 2006 Full Review Sudhish Kamath The Hindu While Preity breathes life even into what could have been a tough stereotype, Abhishek Bachchan in the best-written role in the film steals every frame. May 6, 2015 Full Review TV Guide Bring hankies, because the ending is an old-fashioned tearjerker. Rated: 3/5 May 6, 2015 Full Review Michael Dequina TheMovieReport.com For a good part of his run time, Johar succeeds in crafting something genuinely absorbing and fairly uncompromising -- which makes it all the more disappointing when he ultimately succumbs to his more formulaic candyfloss instincts. joseph c Kitne khubsurat film li hein.. Lakh bar dekha hua hein, fir bhi saal baad dekha toh Intensity bad gayi... Umar ke sath hi, kuchh cheej zjindgi ke sath hi..sikhaya jate hein, samjhaya jate hein. Jyadatar aisa mahatvpurn batein jindgi jete jeete umar hokar pata honge. Abhi Samne Jo vi yaa kuch bhi hua ho, beech mein vahin padkar, soch vichar karke thande dimag se faisla lena hamesha jaruri hota hein. Varna khoklapan sabhi ko dikhega, fir sadak chhap log bhi fayda uthakar chala jayega. Aisa kabhi apne sath hone mat dena. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/02/24 Full Review Rini B Joharasque. No character building, clichéd storytelling, laughable moments - overall inelegant. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/22/23 Full Review adi 1 The most underrated movie of all time. For my money, its one of the best films i have ever seen. Great performances, charming humor, commendable music with emotional depth. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member La trama es buena, los actores son excelentes y la música es agradable; está bien, pero su duración es un poco extensa. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member An excellent look at real life!!! Dear Karan-ji Thank you for providing us with such a thought provoking movie. I enjoyed it tremendously! I disagree with all those who say that you are promoting infidelity in any such way or that you are contradicting the values that we are teaching our kids. It is true that sometimes in life we find it easier to communicate with a stranger who is in a similar situation as we are and yes, i also believe that there is such a thing as true love. Sometimes we just have to find that person through a path paved with pain and broken hearts. You have shown that we all require a friend in life, a lover and a soul mate and sometimes the one we think we have found is not all three of the above in one person. As Amit-ji says 'love and death are the only things that come uninvited into our lives' and I would rather find my true love and let go of my spouse as Rani and Shahrukh had done, than make them suffer with me. As to morals, you have also shown us that if we take the wrong road, as Shahrukh and Rani had done, we have to pay the consequences, which for them was divorce. I honestly believe that all those who are not happy with your movie really need to take a closer look at their own lives and maybe, they will find some truth of your movie reflected their own lives. Not only has your movie taught me that i need to be supportive of my spouse, but i also need to be considerate to his feelings.Sometimes we get too caught up in our lives that we tend to neglect our spouses. Your touch of comedy has once again made this a very memorable movie for me. You have also shown that Rani and Shahrukh tried to help each other in their respective marriages and this to me is true friendship. Also playing an important role was the excellent voice of the elders in the roles of Amit-ji and Kirron-ji. Thank you once again for a different view at life and for making us, the audience re-examine the way we behave with the ones we love. Your movie will definitely give people like me a second chance at love and life with the one I love. Hats off to you Sir, you truly are the Master of Love!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The film's efforts to be subtle or culturally grounded are the main faultlines of this otherwise gripping and emotional Karan Johar movie that tackles infidelity. The filmmaker has shown an easy improvement over the bad strand 'K3G' and weave his best narrative which, surprisingly and affectionately, doesn't get a, 'let-down' from its climatic happily ever after climax.
