Charlotte O'Sullivan London Evening Standard The kids' movie market is crowded with superior specimens; they'll eat Khumba alive. Rated: 2/5 Apr 11, 2014 Full Review David Jenkins Little White Lies A dearth of new and interesting ideas characterises this stock animated caper with furry critters a-plenty. Rated: 2/5 Apr 11, 2014 Full Review Donald Clarke Irish Times If it were a little worse then it might offer some mindless good fun. Rated: 2/5 Apr 11, 2014 Full Review Jason Best Movie Talk The animation is vibrant and the voice cast impressive... So it's a great shame that the animators and actors are let down by the meandering plot and trite dialogue. Aug 25, 2014 Full Review Rich Cline Contactmusic.com When this South African animated adventure embraces its unique setting and characters, it's visually stunning and a lot of fun. Rated: 3.5/5 Apr 14, 2014 Full Review David Aldridge Radio Times Khumba isn't original - it's indebted in particular to The Lion King and Madagascar - but younger kids should enjoy the colourful safari. Diesel G Completely mediocre, overrated and boring Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/19/24 Full Review Nate C A long snooze........ Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/28/23 Full Review Liam D Despite decent animation and voice acting it's a time waster but not entirely awful Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review victor o I watch an animated movie with family or if I think the voice acting is going to be fun. With a cast of decent actors, specifically AnnaSophia Robb interesting me, I wanted to watch this. It's about animals compared to humans regarding superstitions as Khumba a zebra is regarded as the lowest of his pack because he is only half striped and as part of their land is experiencing a drought, the blame is placed on him. Though it is interesting to note that Khumba is not a zebra but a quagga, an extinct species similar to a zebra. And this drought just like his existence is manmade. But as Khumba leaves his pack to somehow make him a zebra you get a lot of nice stories telling with heroes and villains and decent animation. Not the strongest of animated stories but it was decent. Jake T. Austin plays a good lead, Laurence Fishburne was awesome as the villainous Seko, and I appreciated AnnaSophia Robb's small role. A fine movie to watch with family. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Leo G ………………………………. 8.3/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Justin J The lack of zebra intercourse really ruffled to my core. Clearly Khumba and Tombi are in love with each other but don't display it till the end of the movie with a light "hug" if you even want to call it that. I am glad I watched this alone though for reasons I will not be explaining as my wife and kid's were in bed at the time. Great movie for passing the time or having on as background noise.
